Documentary wedding photography by Dublin Wedding Photographer David Gilmartin. Telling wedding stories through images is what this business is about. My wedding photography style is documentary or reportage. My participation in weddings as a visual storyteller allows me to capture the emotion and excitement of a very special day without intruding. The service I provide is very important to my clients. Long after their wedding day, the images I capture will provide them with memories that they will cherish. This is a big responsibility and a privilege that I truly enjoy.
I have been a professional wedding photographer since 2009, but I have had a lifelong interest in photography. I worked in a photo lab in the early 1980’s. My photography became more serious when children started arriving. I shot on film until the end of the 1990’s and then dabbled with digital photography until purchasing a digital SLR in 2004.
I shoot digital images at weddings and most professional portrait sessions. Digital images make my workflow shorter. I do shoot film for my personal work and for some weddings.
I grew up in Sligo and have lived in Dublin for most of my adult life. My partner Susan keeps me pointed in the right direction and has been a tremendous support in everything that I do. I have five wonderful, talented children. Two of them are still little guys and keep us very busy.
Apart from all things photographic, I have an eclectic taste in music and enjoy movies. I am an electronics hacker/maker and a self-confessed computer geek.
In a previous career, I worked with a number of multinational corporations. I have lived and worked in the US and spent extended periods working in Asia and across Europe.
