A Real North-South Wedding
Louise and Phil were married last October at the Tulfarris Hotel and Golf resort, County Wicklow. This was a union between the northern and southern hemispheres. Louise is from Dublin and Phil from New Zealand. They are both living and working in New Zealand and travelled to Ireland for their wedding. They had contacted me in 2013 about their wedding photography and we arranged things through email and Skype.
Phil’s family and friends had travelled to Dublin a week early for his stag party. Many of them stayed at the hotel for the few days around the wedding. Louise had the opportunity to be at home in Shankill, County Dublin and that’s where her preparations took place. It was also where the wedding photography started. I travelled on to Blessington to meet up with Phil and his family as they were preparing. Everyone was very relaxed as the ceremony was only a short walk away. Tulfarris have a lovely room for civil ceremonies with a double doors looking out on the Wicklow countryside. Louise had injured her leg just before travelling to Ireland and had to take some extra care when she arrived for the ceremony.
Wedding Photography in Autumn
Following the ceremony, Louise and Phil plus the wedding party took a short stroll along the golf course and the lake. They managed to fit this in between a couple of rain showers. The low October sun made some nice backlighting for outdoor wedding photography.
Back at reception, there was an impromptu (but I think well rehearsed) version of the Haka led by some of the New Zealand crew before the dancing got under way.
A very enjoyable day! My thanks to all at Tulfarris.
